Why Run?

My mother Bonnie taught public school in North Carolina for almost 30 years. I spent mornings helping her get her classroom set up and evenings filing papers and making copies.

I attended public school and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, the first public university in the country.

For the last 10 years my wife and I have been helping our four children navigate public school and I’ve met teachers, administrators, staff, bus drivers, coaches, and other incredible individuals that day after day do more and more for our kids with less and less.

I’ve volunteered in classrooms, attended IEP meetings, coached basketball and soccer, donated supplies to teachers, and contributed to fundraisers for everything from rugs and crayons to water fountains.

Every year elected officials go to Raleigh and bicker and fight, ignoring pleas from students, teachers, and schools.

It’s time for a change.
